Travelogue: Lymington

What would you do on a sunny Saturday when you rarely get a Saturday off from work? An escapade to a small town, away from the hustle of bustle of the city of course! This has thus brought me to Lymington, a town approximately 35 minutes away from Southampton by train.

To get to Lymington, you would have to change at Brockenhurst. Then from there to Lymington, the journey will then be served by the Heritage Line. So what did I mean by heritage? Well...check out the photos below!

I remembered the first time when I got into this train, I was amazed by it. It felt as though I have been transported back to the train's glorious days. The train's door was very unique. In order to get out of the train, you would have to lower the window and open the door from the outside by pulling its handle. To shut the door, you would have to slam it hard!
Cobbled Street in Lymington town

The reason why I had chose to come to Lymington on a Saturday was because of its well-known street market that is being held every Saturday mornings on its Georgian High Street.

My first trip to Lymington happened to be a week day where I was on a work assignment. Since then, I had promised myself that I'm going to visit Lymington again. I was attracted to the town due do its English charm. There were specialty shops as well as tea houses tucked at every corner of the town's high street.
Clotted Cream Tea

I wasted no time and went into one of the pretty tea houses and ordered the Clotted Cream Tea (£3.95). The set consisted of one homemade scone with strawberry jam, butter and clotted cream, as well as a pot of tea. The scone was very good and wasn't too heavy, unlike some that will practically leave you feeling disgusted at the end of the last few bites.

So this concludes my day trip to Lymington. Overall, the town would worth a one-day visit if you would like to experience some typical English town experience. Certainly I have been terrified by this visit due to the the presence of quite a number of dogs whom has decided to roam the market along with their owners!
